MuralPix Wallpaper Changer Freeware

MuralPix Wallpaper Changer is a program which automatically creates wallpapers for Windows from selected JPEG images and changes them in specified period of time. This is cool if you’re a photographer or if you just have an archive of images from the Web. MuralPix will create a permanently changing background from the folder you specify. Also, MuralPix Screen Saver makes a slide show from your images when the PC is idle for a specified period of time. Images can be changed with transition effects.

MuralPix can be downloaded in 3 versions, which differ only in number of sample images included, and thus in the size of the package. A broadband connection is best for downloading the extended version.

Minimum version: Contains MuralPix and no sample images (3.0 MB)
Basic version: Contains MuralPix and 5 sample images (3.9 MB)
Extended version: Contains MuralPix and 50 sample images (10.8 MB)

Supermassive

Hordes of Supermassive Black Hole Found!
Dateline U.S. Congress.

Haha, just kidding. It’s amazing that this find probably more than doubles the amount of known black holes in the Universe. What? Were we just not looking in the right neighborhood? It was dark and we didn’t see them?

OK, seriously this is cool and also disturbing. There more black holes there are, the more matter is being sucked inside. That would be cool if we could use them for landfills or sumpin, but otherwise we’re looking at eventual suckage of the entire Universe, right?

China Moon

A new wave of moon watchers is being born in China as the country prepares for the launch of a lunar orbiter. I’m so jealous. I mean the International Space Station is an excellent thing, but giving up an the moon after expending so much money, time and human lives to get there was simply stupid.

We should already have a Golden Arches up there.

Talk About It

Hey, let’s get serious for a sec. The Internet has brought a lot of cool into our lives. It’s fun, it’s gossipy, it’s informative. It can also save your life.

If you have an addiction to drugs or alcohol, you know how hard it is to admit it and then to get the help you need. There aren’t always people we feel we can trust in the circle around us. Even if there are, we know they aren’t always going to understand what it feels like and what it takes to get a life back.

Alcohol Rehab is a free .mobi blog that can connect you to people who know where you are because they’ve been there themselves. Go on over (the site is accessible with regular browsers too) and read up on what people have experienced with rehab. You can see both sides of the coin, people who are/were addicted and people who love them.

Take a look. You don’t have to sign anything or register anywhere. It starts with a click.

Legends FPS Free Download

Legends is a first person shooter online multiplayer game. The game is designed to take advantage of the beautiful environments available from the Torque engine it is based on, while still offering the breakneck pacing and variety of styles available from such classics as Quake and Tribes. Gameplay is not the strafe-strafe-jump-strafe-shoot-strafe-run-like-hell style a lot of games espouse; the addition of a jetpack adds a third dimension of mobility that makes skill, forethought, and restraint necessities to winning. Team sizes are ideal between 10 and 15 on each side, and the network code allows 56k upwards to play smoothly. Game type offerings range from the classic Capture the Flag, Deathmatch and Duel to our own new types, e.g.. ‘War’.

Works on Windows 98, 2000, XP and Linux.

BackLinks Master Freeware

Backlinks are an effective way to increase your rank in search engines. No matter how you got inbound links to your site (submitted your site to DMOZ, participated in reciprocal linking programs, or someone mentioned your resource in a blog), you need a tool to control the status of the links.

The freeware BackLinks Master checks if they still point to your website, what anchor text do these backlinks have and more. BackLinks Master helps you to find out who is linking to you, whether the link is direct or if it goes through JavaScript and what keywords it has in the anchor text.

Collected data is displayed in a simple and handy tree-like form. All the info can be exported into a CSV file for further, more detailed analysis. You can handle several URLs, submit your target keywords to see linking sites with these keywords in anchor text and more.
