Silent Suzuki

Now we’re talking. My biggest complaints with motorcycles are the noise and the stink. These seems to kill both of those birds while offering an even sportier design. I can’t wait to see them arrive in my neighborhood.

Heck, I wouldn’t mind seeing on show up in my driveway, if you know what I mean. I’m keeping an eye on this project.

Car As Counselor

Leave it to Japan to take backseat drivers to the ultimate level.

I guess I could stand to develop a better relationship with my car … really, we don’t talk the way we used to. But the idea of having it boss me around. Not so much into that. Is it going to start bitching to me about the quality of gasoline I put in?

Supermassive

Hordes of Supermassive Black Hole Found!
Dateline U.S. Congress.

Haha, just kidding. It’s amazing that this find probably more than doubles the amount of known black holes in the Universe. What? Were we just not looking in the right neighborhood? It was dark and we didn’t see them?

OK, seriously this is cool and also disturbing. There more black holes there are, the more matter is being sucked inside. That would be cool if we could use them for landfills or sumpin, but otherwise we’re looking at eventual suckage of the entire Universe, right?

Samsung Memory Shrinks

Cool. But are we ever going to get to the point where “hand held” conjures up images of the banks of whirling thimgamajigs that used to make up a single computer?

I’m not saying that I don’t think an MP3 player embedded in my brain is a bad thing. I want that and I’ll put out for nano technology any day.

It’s just that it starts looking ridiculous when your ear bud is larger than your player. Already it’s a joke to try find my iPod in my pocket between the pack of gum, my nail clippers, my Pilot pen and the clump of lint.

Electric Optical

I love reading news like this. It’s nice to know there are some people out there who still put their money for research and development on making the world a better place to live in.

Best of luck to the company … and good karma to all.

Science vs Superstition

Hard to believe this is even an issue that needs to be raised. Teaching evolution has become revolutionary. Florida students are apparently getting the same education that fundamentalist third world countries offer their (male only please) students.

We might as well limit public education to reading of the bible and how to ask “Do you want fries with that?” in all the languages of the many countries that will soon be technologically and socially superior to us. Yes, that would include Arabic.

Great Pacific Garbage Patch

Paper or plastic? Kill a forest or an ocean?

Really, I’m having a hard time finding words for this. I know these weren’t random bags and crap that just decided to come together and form a new state. Somebody had to dump this stuff. Somebody big.

But it doesn’t take away responsibility we as trash-producing individuals have to face.

Dumbass Outs Himself

OK, I’ve never liked this guy or Crick or Wilson since they took all the credit for work done by Rosalind Franklin. So I knew they were sexist. I guess it’s not that big of a leap to being racist after all.

Don’t know who Rosalind Franklin is? Here’s an intro:

It was Franklin’s photograph of the DNA molecule that sparked a scientific revolution. Wilkins showed Watson the photo, and, Watson said, “My jaw fell open and my pulse began to race.”

The photo showed, for the first time, the essential structure of DNA – the double-helix shape, which also indicated its method of replication. (Brenda Maddox)

Read The Dark Lady of DNA. And Watson … go replicate yourself.

Comcast Censors

Wow, it’s just like living in an exotic foreign land where the paternal and protective government watches over you and will never let anything bad ever happen to you.

Or anything good for that matter.

When I went to bed last night, I was in America. Now I’m China? Or is it Iran? So hard to tell with these blinders on.

3rd Space Thumper

Sweet! This is a great idea and proof to all you anti-nerds out there that science has real applications to your life. Yes, not only can research help your gaming experience, it can improve your health.

So learn math! Learn science! Learn … oh who am I kidding? Shoot ‘em! Damn it – there’s a sniper to the left! Shoot you fool!
