Rare Investment

OK, I’ve written before about the Monex companies and their opportunities for you to invest in gold and/or silver. I’ve recently learned about Monaco Rare Coin, which is a member of the Monex companies. This is your chance to get your hands on some cool rare coins without having to dig out your metal detector or learn how to scuba dive for shipwrecks.

Monaco Rare Coin offers the finest rare coins available, but doesn’t expect you to venture into this field all alone. They have many experienced professionals to assist you and they offer a broad range of investment programs and products to fit your budget. Not only can you buy through Monaco, if you’re already a collector, you can sell as well.

If you have any interest in rare coins at all – and who doesn’t? – you should check out their unique offerings.

Do It Yourself Poker

If you’re a poker player but you find online games and leagues to be too annoying – whether it’s because of their structure or rules – then you’ll enjoy taking a look at PokerDIY. Seriously. Do it yourself poker.

This cool concept allows you to set up your own home poker league. You have to see this to believe it. You can set up and manage a poker league (or two) whether live in your own neighborhood or online. You can send invites out to your friends to get in on the games and PokerDIY sets you up with RSVP tracking and emails. If you need more player outside your circle of friends you can put an ad up to invite more players in. You can also track winnings and see who’s on the leaderboard for your games with the widget you can put on your own blog.

If you don’t feel like setting up your own, maybe you can find a poker group online – including many freeroll leagues. There a lot of options at PokerDIY for poker players who like to do it themselves. Enjoy!

Alleged Album Maker Freeware

I found a cool download – at least it would be cool if it actually worked on my ratty-assed computer. (No offense, babe. I loves ya!) Take a look:

MakeitOne MP3 Album Maker (allegedly) allows you to (allegedly) join selected MP3 files into a single file that is (allegedly) compatible with any MP3 player and tag editor. The album file is (allegedly) a single, large MP3 file that contains the (alleged) merged tracks. The Album Maker (allegedly) can also (allegedly) unpack any album that was (allegedly) created with the software. (Info shamefully stolen from freesofwaredownload.blogspot.com

MP3 Album Maker is written in C# and requires the DotNet Framework which can be download direct from microsoft.

The parenthetical comments are mine. If you get this to work, let me know what if anything you had to tweak.

p.s. Yes, I have the .net framework, thanx.

Put Spock to Work

If you haven’t tapped into the hot search spot known as “Spock” you’re really missing out on a cool way to find people and things you’re looking for. Spock is not like most search engines in that it doesn’t simply return a dry list of text links.

Say you use a keyword search to look for web design or a web designer. Hit enter and Spock bring up a list of people – with their photos when available – and all of the links associated to each person. It will show you their community links like LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter and their professional links like their education, affiliations and associations they belong to.

Spock also lets you create widgets of your searches that you can embed in your own pages or blog posts. This adds cool functionality to your site, allowing you to offer information for other searchers. Spock is still in beta but it works without a hitch. It’s definitely not a “bares bones” beta, as you can see from the widget of my search result below:

Spock’s search engine allows you to search people by their names, by tags related to their work or profession, and – this is really cool – by their email address. Try that with Google and see how far you get. You get a document not found message. Once you register with Spock (don’t worry, it’s free and easy) and try the same search you will find what and who you are looking for.

But enough from me. You’ll only get the full flavor of Spock.com by checking it out yourself. You don’t even have to register to do great searches, but once you do you can access even more features. Enjoy your search for a change. You will find what you need – and, dare I say it – “prosper”?

Busted?

Since I never know what you people are getting yourselves into next, I thought it was a good time to branch out a little here. In the spirit, I’m offering you a tip to a California prostitution lawyer. No, not a prostitute turned lawyer. Meaning, you get yourself busted one way or another and the good folks at Stephen G. Rodriguez & Associates will do their best to help you out.

As they say, “we don’t take Criminal Law lightly.” In fact, it’s their one and only focus. If you wake up on the wrong side of the law and they will do their level best to get you through with reduced sentences or even dismissals. Of course, some of that depends on just what it was you allegedly did – but they’ll treat you like they’d want to be treated.

And isn’t that what we all want? Go ahead and bookmark the site. You never know…

Santa: Do Not Read

Sweeney Todd … now this has got to be the least festive movie ever slated for a holiday release. See murder, revenge and gallons of spurting blood this Christmas morning!

Sounds like I don’t like the idea, doesn’t it? Well, you’re wrong. In fact, it brings a little tear to me eye as I’m reminded of family holidays past. Without violence, bad singing and someone going after another with sharp objects, it just wouldn’t be the holidays. Festive family reunions were made for revenge.

Sharpen your appetite for blood and visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site. It has a trailer, a hefty photo gallery, the bad singing I mentioned earlier and much more. But the real fun begins when you visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace. Here’s where you’ll find the Sweeney Todd Confessions … and you can write, call in or make a video of your own little confession of revenge that you never wanted to let Santa know about, but need to get off your chest.

I’m inspired to make a wee confession myself, in the spirit of the moment. And I stress the “wee.” I’m not current on the statutes of limitations on my most heinous acts of revenge certain indiscretions, so I’ll keep it tame. After receiving hate mail from a … critic who didn’t like my writing (not on this blog of course, I do no writing here) I took the idiot’s email address and sign him up for every spammy newsletter I could find – from pron to breastfeeding, transgender issues to Republican fund raisers. The only requirement the newsletter had to meet was that they obviously sold their email lists before the type got cold. Oh, the days before spam blockers. They were heady days.

Now go lose yours to Sweeney Todd.
