Straining The Web

Net Sieve

Join A New Community

Since MySpace is drowning in a sea of spam and no relief seems to be in sight, now would be a good time to start looking for a new online meeting place. If you want to get in on the ground floor of a social networking site that offers chat, photo albums and mp3 downloads (that’s very cool), join 3gb community www.3gb.biz.

3gb is so new in fact, their TOS reads: “This is the terms of service agreement.” OK. I can deal with that. Expect the usual bumps in the road as the platform develops. This is the best time to become part of a new community.

Giving Porn a Bad Name

Who suspected those nice pronographers would ever do something as underhanded as this? And to FaceBook? This is not MySpace, Buster, so take your feely cracking elsewhere.

Seriously, this for-profit hacking is not hacking at all. What do we learn from their efforts to break in? Only that people are greedy and greedy people suck. Teh loosers.

Chinese Cyborgs

China is jumping on the wearable bandwagon by putting out some interesting new products. This field is sorely lagging. We need much more innovation – and practical innovation at that – to reach the potential that was visualized ages ago.

We’ve got the device size down really well, now it’s time to concentrate more energy on… well, energy. Compact power units are a necessity now.

Good? Bad?

Remember the days when you could tell the good guys from the bad?

I don’t know who to root for any more and I’m not sure there is anyone out there worth rooting for. I miss the good old days of information free for alls and “Do no evil.” Whose clutches do we avoid these days?

I’m tipping to entirely open source. Let companies and people earn their money the old fashioned way.

WordPress Word Count Plugin

If you do any blogging at all, you know you need this. It’s Leprakhauns Word Count WordPress Plugin and it does just what it says.

But unlike other plugins it doesn’t make you save or post your writing before you can get your count. How lame is that anyway? Leprakhauns does it on the fly.

I don’t have to tell you that WordPress plugins are still free, do I?

Comcast Censors

Wow, it’s just like living in an exotic foreign land where the paternal and protective government watches over you and will never let anything bad ever happen to you.

Or anything good for that matter.

When I went to bed last night, I was in America. Now I’m China? Or is it Iran? So hard to tell with these blinders on.
